The Ford Fiesta is usually considered as the routine table topper in terms of monthly sales figures; however, May saw the Corsa supermini claim first place in May’s top ten sellers table.
The Vauxhall Corsa sold 8,413 units in May alone, beating the Ford Fiesta’s 8,337 figure.
Although the Fiesta has been the top monthly seller every month of 2012 to date, the Corsa has been slowly working its way up the sales hierarchy, showing stronger sales month after month. This was displayed in April this year when it finished second behind the Ford.
The Corsa supermini is one of Vauxhall’s most popular and lucrative models as it offers both affordability and practicality. It sits alongside its equally successful bigger brother, the Vauxhall Astra, which also made the May top ten sellers list.
A third Vauxhall, the Vauxhall Insignia, also appeared in the top ten to make it a hat-trick for the manufacturer.
The Corsa also comes with a wide range of engines, including a frugal 1.3-litre ecoFLEX diesel that emits just 94g/km of C02 emissions, which is lower than the Fiesta’s greenest EcoBoost engine.
This sub 100g/km figure means that the Corsa is road tax exempt, which means more savings on top of its low starting price of £9,495.
The new Vauxhall Corsa also offers generous amounts of entry level equipment, plus a sporty SXi model which offers sport suspension, sport seats and exclusive exterior styling with dark-style headlights and a chrome exhaust.
Vauxhall vehicles are available from Perrys Vauxhall of Aylesbury, Perrys Vauxhall of Barnsley and Perrys Vauxhall of Broadstairs.
