The Mazda MX-5 continues its glowing run of success as the world’s best selling two-seater sportscar by adding yet another accolade to its plethora of achievement.
The award was given to the MX-5 – which can be bought as a metal roof coupe-convertible or a soft-top roadster – as its reviews received the most views from visitors on the Honest John website.
Described by the site as ‘a great sportscar’, the MX-5 was particularly praised in its handling abilities and low running costs, which meant it defeated competition like the BMW Z4 and Fiat 500C.
The Mazda MX-5 sportscar is renowned for its value for money; with prices starting from £17,995 it is nearly £12,000 cheaper than the BMW Z4.
It also comes with a wide engine range, which includes a powerful 158bhp 2.0-litre petrol, and a frugal 1.8-litre petrol that returns up to 39.8mpg. These engines can be matched with either a five-speed manual, six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmissions.
The Mazda MX-5 also comes well equipped as standard equipment includes 16-inch alloy wheels, six-speaker audio system, MP3 compatibility and a height adjustable steering wheel.
Jeremy Thomson, managing director for Mazda UK said: “In spite of a growing number of competitors in this sector, the consistent level of praise for the MX-5 – from journalists and motorists alike – marks it out as the ideal all-year-round convertible.”
The MX-5 is expected to attract even more attention as Mazda has recently released its new MX-5 Venture Edition.
The Venture Edition includes even more luxurious trim features including 5.8-inch touch screen satellite navigation, leather seats and 17-inch alloy wheels. Prices for the Mazda MX-5 Venture Edition start from £18,995 on the road.
Mazda vehicles are available from Perry’s dealerships such as Barnsley, Huddersfield and Portsmouth.
