Marketing director Lawrence Hamilton is preparing for the launch of the five-door hatchback in the UK in June and says the new car will be as good as the new Ford Focus.
He said: “We are adding a level of sophistication to the car so that it will compete at the top end of the segment with the Ford Focus and VW Golf.”
The new Kia Cee’d has been completely revamped compared to the current generation model with Kia’s new design language on the outside, more space inside and a higher level of equipment than ever before.
The new 2012 Kia Cee’d now comes with Bluetooth, voice recognition, parking assist and even heated seats in top specification models for the first time, says Kia, as the brand looks to move more upmarket with its small family car.
Inside, the car includes a new control panel and dashboard as well as 380 litres of boot space with the rear seats up.
Kia says this will bring a ‘more premium, luxurious, big car feel to the interior’ while chrome highlights, wraparound headlights and LED running lights give the exterior a more executive feel.
The new 2012 Kia Cee’d will also get Kia’s new range of engines including 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre petrol options and a choice of diesel units.
New Kia Cee’d prices will start from £14,500 rising to £25,000 for range-topping versions and all models will be available with Kia’s seven-year, transferable warranty.
The five-door Kia Cee’d hatchback will go on sale in UK Kia dealerships from 1 June and a three-door Kia Pro_cee’d will join the range later in the year.
