As an executive car, it is no surprise to see the first deliveries taking place at businesses in the UK, with a number of companies choosing the hatchback for their fleets.
The Citroen DS5 release date is set for the 2 April in the UK when it will become the third upmarket model to join the Citroen DS Line range when it arrives in Citroen dealerships.
Following the customisable Citroen DS3 supermini and the Citroen DS4 small family hatchback, the Citroen DS5 is designed as the more executive-level model in the range.
Key to its UK sales are the low running costs associated with the Citroen DS5. Using the new diesel-hybrid engine setup first showcased in the Peugeot 3008 Hybrid4, the Citroen DS5 is one of the lowest-cost executive cars to run in the UK.
The combination of 2.0-litre diesel engine and electric motor powered by a battery delivers four-wheel drive, 200bhp and, remarkably, CO2 emissions of just 99g/km.
This is enough to qualify for free road tax in the UK and exemption from the London congestion charge. For fleet owners, it also means a Benefit-in-Kind tax rate of just 10 per cent.
Craig Burdock, whose company 2 Sisters’ Procurement Category Manager is one of the first to take delivery of the DS5, said: “As a business, we are very environmentally focused. And like all companies we are looking to minimise fleet costs.
“So we are very excited about being amongst the first to offer Citroen’s DS5 diesel hybrid to our company car drivers.”
The four-door, five-seat Citroen DS5 prices start from £22,400 and comes with a choice of petrol, diesel or the hybrid engine option along with a wide range of options covering upholstery, equipment and exterior colours.
The new Citroen DS5 is available to order now and the first deliveries to private customers will take place on 2 April.
