Fresh from revealing the five-door hatchback and the Kia Cee’d SW, an estate version of the affordable family car, Kia is now planning a three-door coupe version of the car.
The leaked image has not been confirmed by Kia but it does show several aspects many people will expect from the distinctly-named Kia Pro_Cee’d three-door version.
Unnecessary punctuation aside, the Kia Pro_Cee’d is expected to feature the familiar Kia ‘tiger face’ front end displayed on the new Cee’d.
However, it is expected to offer a sportier design than the Cee’d with a lower roofline and sportier silhouette to take on the new Vauxhall Astra GTC, which arrived in Vauxhall dealerships this year.
Under the bonnet, Pro_Cee’d owners can expect similar engines to those used in the Cee’d hatchback and Cee’d SW models.
These include three petrol and three diesel options offering 94bhp up to 133bhp from the most powerful unit.
The leaked image is very much a concept car with oversized, eye-catching alloy wheels, thin wing mirrors and a drastically sloping windscreen and bonnet.
However, it could influence the final Pro_Cee’d model, which is expected to be revealed at the Paris Motor Show in September 2012.
A three-door Kia Pro_Cee’d is expected to join the five-door hatchback and the SW in the Kia Cee’d line-up by the end of the year.
The new Kia Cee’d five-door hatchback will go on sale in the UK in June with Cee’d SW version arriving later in the year in Kia UK dealerships.
New 2012 Kia Cee’d prices and specifications will be revealed closer to the launch date but all models are expected to be offered with Kia’s impressive seven-year, 100,000-mile warranty.
