Chevrolet has announced that its Cruze based TRU 140S and CODE 130R sport concepts will be making their European debuts alongside the new Chevrolet Cruze estate at Geneva this March.
Both of Chevrolet’s new sport concepts have been designed by British designers, Nicholas David (TRU140s) who studied in the Royal College of Art in London and Joe Baker (CODE 130R) who studied car design at Coventry University.
The approach they took to the design of the new models was one based on ‘opinions and desires of young car enthusiasts’. Both designers collected input from young drivers and teenagers by asking them what they would like to see on the new models.
The first of the new models is the two-door TRU 140S sports car. It has a smooth aerodynamic body with stretched front headlights, large front grill and carries a large Chevrolet cross badge. The Cruze’s influence is definitely apparent in the TRU 140S concept with its muscular body shape.
The CODE 130R is a two-door four seat coupe with a hint of the Chevrolet Camaro’s design, yet with a more muscular stance. With a large front end, 20″ gold wheels and ‘boy racer’ red metallic paint job the CODE 130R concept echoes the typical sporty appeal of a sports car.
The CODE 130R concept’s interior includes Chevrolet’s new MyLink system, which offers WiFi and smart phone integration.
Although Chevrolet has not announced whether or not these concepts will be put into production, the fact that they are both based on the platform of the Cruze may suggest there is a possibility that they will reach showrooms.
Chevrolet vehicles are available from Perrys Chevrolet Dover and Perrys Chevrolet Rotherham dealerships.
