The Citroen DS4 Racing concept will be introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in March but the first images of the performance model have been released by the French manufacturer.
The Citroen DS4 went on sale earlier this year in the UK. Designed as a premium alternative in the small hatchback segment, the model featured a distinctive, SUV-style raised ground clearance and an upmarket interior.
A DS4 Racing version keeps the general shape of the DS4 but the concept comes with notable, performance-oriented differences.
More aggressive body kit includes a reworked front end with a particular emphasis on a lower bumper. Side skirts, more pronounced wheel arches, alloy wheels and a rear spoiler lip on the boot hint at its performance direction.
The model also comes with twin exhausts and red brake callipers while Racing badges on the grille and rear leave no question about the car’s pedigree.
Citroen has included a 256bhp, 1.6-litre turbocharged engine – 56bhp more than the smaller DS3 Racing – but performance figures have not been announced.
The interior has also been kept hidden by Citroen and the new DS4 Racing concept does not follow the DS3 Racing’s eye-catching orange and black colour option, instead it uses a more subdued grey body colour.
Citroen has not revealed if it will build the Citroen DS4 Racing but the Citroen DS3 Racing, although limited to just 200 models, sold out even before the first models arrived in the UK.
In the meantime, customers can buy the standard Citroen DS4 from £18,150 in the UK from Citroen dealerships.
