As the name suggests, the new Megane Renaultsport 265 hot hatch adds 15hp to the older 250hp model and Renault will also offer a host of new options for its most powerful performance-oriented car.
Orders have opened for the new Megane hot hatch and the first deliveries will arrive in April in UK Renault dealerships.
In terms of performance, the new 2012 Megane Renaultsport 265 offers a top speed of 158mph and hits 62mph in six seconds.
The engine is available on both the entry-level 265 Cup and the higher-specification 265, which costs an extra £1,200 at £26,025.
Standard models come with a host of racing-inspired kit including grey and red cloth upholstery with the option of Recaro sports seats decked out in grey cloth and synthetic leather highlights. New alloy wheels are also available on both trim levels.
While the entry-level 265 Cup offers a Cup Chassis, Brembo brakes and other sporting tweaks, the chassis is only available on the 265 as part of an additional ‘Cup Chassis Pack’.
A second pack, called the ‘Red Design Pack’, includes red striping on the front blade, rear diffuser and side protection mouldings and will set buyers back an extra £350.
A new safety pack featuring lane departure warnings and automatic high and low headlight beam and a satellite navigation optional extra are also available for extra cost.
Both new models will come with Renault’s 4+ deal, which groups together roadside cover, warranty, servicing and finance into one package, a deal advertised heavily on UK television in recent weeks.
