Japanese manufacturer Falken says its new range of tyres have been designed for sporty SUVs such as the Range Rover Evoque and the Kia Sportage.
The new tyres come with a range of impressive claims including improvements in the stability and feel of both two-wheel drive and 4×4 cars.
The new tyres improve grip by 14 per cent over previous tyres from the company because of a change in compound choice for the tyre.
Wet weather performance is also improved, according to Flaken’s corporate planning director, Yukio Yoshida.
He said: “Resistance to hydroplaning, critical for heavier and taller SUVs, is up seven percent improvement thanks to advances in tread pattern.”
The tyres will be available for the Land Rover models such as the Land Rover Freelander and the entire new Range Rover range, including the Range Rover Sport and the Range Rover Evoque.
The Kia Sportage, Vauxhall Antara and Mazda CX7 will also be available with the tyres, according to Falken.
Tyres are big business in the UK in 2012. More people than ever before have chosen to fit their cars with winter tyres in the past three months.
Land Rover has announced an official winter tyre partner and Vauxhall has introduced options such as winter services and even ‘snow socks’ to improve grip and traction in modern cars.
Earlier this year, Continental was named as the best winter tyre maker by Auto Express magazine.
From November, all tyres sold in the UK will come with a tyre label outlining its grip, how it affects fuel economy and noise on the road.
Tyres can be fitted and purchased from any Perrys service dealer.
