Citroen’s popular Berlingo commercial van has been handed the accolade of ‘Best LCV 2012’ by Institute of Transport Management’s (ITM’s) because of its running costs and reliability.
Judges said the Berlingo, the small panel van which has also spawned a car version, won because of its reliability, cost-effectiveness and durability.
They added the van ‘hits all the right buttons’ for business use, including offering eco-friendly alternatives to those looking to cut costs.
In delivering cost effectiveness the Berlingo offers a range of e-HDi Airdream models, which offer micro-hybrid and stop & start technology, and therefore better and more efficient emissions. The Berlingo returns up to 60.1mpg and emits just 123g/km worth of CO2 emissions, which is quite remarkable for a vehicle its size.
The Berlingo also offers a choice of either petrol or diesel engines, as well as a choice of either a 5 speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automated manual transmission. The tick in the reliability and convenience box comes in the form of a massive storage capacity of up to 3,000-litres.
ITM’s judges said: “Businesses are looking for LCVs that are lighter, with lower emissions and better fuel efficiency, qualities that the Citroën Berlingo range has in spades. In particular, the Citroen Berlingo e-HDI Airdream models are equipped with e-HDi micro-hybrid Stop & Start technology.”
“For further fuel savings, all Berlingo vans are specified with Citroen’s unique Trafficmaster telematics package. This further reduces urban fuel consumption and emissions by offering the fastest congestion avoidance routing direct to the driver.”
The Citroen Berlingo van is available from £11,845.
Citroen vehicles are available from Perry’s Barnsley, Huddersfield and Milton Keynes dealerships.
