Perrys Mazda dealerships across the UK are preparing for the groundbreaking CX-5, the small SUV first revealed in 2011.
The Mazda CX-5 is an important model for the brand because it enters the fast-growing compact SUV market dominated by the likes of the Ford Kuga.
Mazda will have the edge over its rivals when the CX-5 arrives because it comes with new Skyactiv technology.
Skyactiv is a term used to describe the overall efficiency of the new SUV including an eight per cent reduction in weight compared to more conventional materials and new, frugal engines and transmissions.
In front-wheel drive format the car offers CO2 emissions as low as 119g/km – enough to qualify for zero Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) in the first year.
In four-wheel drive configuration CO2 emissions fall below 140g/km and improvements to fuel economy mean the CX-5 will be one of the greenest small SUVs on the market from 2012.
Skyactiv engines and gearboxes will also appear in the likes of the Mazda2 and Mazda3 while the new Mazda6 is expected to make use of the technology when it arrives in 2013.
Perrys Barnsley, Perrys Blackburn, Perrys Preston, Perrys Huddersfield and Perrys Portsmouth will all take delivery of the new Mazda CX-5 when it is launched in the next few months.
However, customers will have to wait until February for Mazda CX-5 prices and specifications to be revealed and for order books to open on the first models on sale in the UK.
The Mazda CX-5 is expected to come with an impressive level of equipment in the UK and features such as satellite navigation, a radio/CD player and Bluetooth connectivity are expected to be included on standard models.
