First look at the new Ford Mondeo

The new Ford Mondeo comes with an overhaul to its exterior design including an all-new front end, bonnet and a lower roofline.

However, the most significant changes come in the shape of three new engine options as Ford introduces electric motors to the large family car for the first time.

This new model has a range of economic engines and is expected to be the first saloon to offer petrol, hybrid and plug-in-hybrid powertrains.

With these three powertrain choices customers can find the right Ford Mondeo that better suits them and their lifestyle.

The powertrains include 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre petrol engines which return up to 37mpg and offer all-wheel drive and 19″ alloy wheels.

The hybrid powertrain has been downsized from its original 2.5-litre to a 2.0-litre, allowing it to return an impressive 47mpg. Alongside these powertrains is the plug-in-hybrid, the most economical in the new Mondeo range with an expected mile per gallon figure of over 100. These improved emissions are thanks to Ford’s EcoBoost technology.

Inside the new Mondeo there is a wide selection of technology to assist the driver and general make for a greater driving experience. These include adaptive cruise control and lane keeping system (handy for motorway journeys), active parking assist and a Blind Spot Information System (BLIS).

A more personal and premium feel is offered with the new Mondeo in the form of MyFord Touch, Ford SYNC and three available trim levels: S, SE and Titanium X.

The new Ford Mondeo is expected to be released in Europe in the first quarter of 2013.

Ford vehicles are available from Perry’s Aylesbury and High Wycombe dealerships.
