Ford has extended its sponsorship agreement with the UEFA Champions League until June 2012.
“Our new three-year agreement shows how strongly we feel about this partnership,” said Stephen Odell, chairman and CEO, Ford of Europe.
As many football fans may already know, Ford is a common face in the UEFA Champions League and is well known for its television break bumpers, the Focus model featuring often, and stadium advertisement boards.
This extended sponsorship will be followed by the launch of 200 special edition “Champions” models, which will feature in the 2012 UEFA Champions League Final by supporting logistics.
As well as these new “Champions models” models, over 900 Ford vehicles will also be used in the competition to help with logistics for the UEFA games. These include the likes of the Ford Galaxy and Ford Transit models.
The UEFA Champions League pulled in more than one billion viewers last season. With these views Ford pulls in more interest from customers and businesses.
Some other popular activities Ford is known for in the competition are its FocusCam, which appeared in the UEFA Champions League Festival. This allowed visitors to be captured in a 180 degree ‘Matrix’ style animation using a bank of 40 cameras.
Ford is also popular in terms of social media with the competition as sites like Facebook and Twitter allow customers and fans to interact with the manufacturer and the competition.
Odell added: “For a global company like ours, the UEFA Champions League is an ideal platform to connect with millions of people around common values. It is about the best-of-the-best on the ultimate stage, and that’s why Ford wants to be part of it.”
