Ford’s popular Fiesta model has come out on top in the latest SMMT figures where it saw off competition from other superminis and other car segment vehicles.
The Fiesta is a popular supermini that has impressed with its sales this year and proves that small ‘run arounds’ are still popular models. This is also evident in the fact that average new car fuel efficiency has improved 29.3% in last 10 years, giving the highest ever mpg.
The Fiesta model came top dog with sales of 6,195 in November alone, which makes its overall sales for this year stand at 90,701.
Ford’s Focus model also made it into the top ten list with sales of 4,910 in November and is the second most popular car in 2011 to date.
The new Ford Focus, launched in 2011, chares the same economical EcoBoost and ECOnetic range petrol and diesel engines with its smaller sibling.
The Ford Fiesta was closely followed by Vauxhall’s Corsa model in the November sales charts which sold 5,234 and Vauxhall’s Astra which sold 4,518. These two Vauxhall models pretty much go head to head with Ford’s Fiesta and Ford models as they are from the same supermini and hatchback market segments.
These figures prove that small cars are still very popular in the UK as buyers look towards downsizing to more frugal and cost-efficient vehicles.
Prices for the Ford Fiesta start from £9,495. Ford vehicles are available from Perry’s Aylesbury and High Wycombe dealerships.
