The luxury ‘baby’ Range Rover, which has the distinction of being the smallest, greenest and cheapest Range Rover in the line up, has already picked up its fair share of awards, this being its 34th international one to be exact, making it no surprise it has been awarded ‘Car of the Year’.
The Evoque came top of its SUV category and was not only awarded car of the year, but was also picked by Top Gear’s presenter Jeremy Clarkson as his personal favourite of the year, after he described it as ‘brilliant’ and ‘an easy rosette-winner’.
But this feat wasn’t easy as it faced stiff competition from other new popular models such as the Kia Picanto, which was awarded the ‘Bargain of the Year’ by Top Gear.
The judging panel was headed up by BBC Top Gear magazine editor-in-chief Charlie Turner. Turner said: “Judging the Top Gear Magazine cars of the year takes a lot of time, coffee and shouting. But, strangely, when it came to the choosing the overall winner, the yelling softened to agreement.
“Universal approval from the most opinionated minds in the industry is almost unheard of. Which gives you some idea of just how good the Range Rover Evoque, Top Gear’s 2011 Car of the Year, really is.”
The Evoque is renowned for its stylish appeal and personalised approached to the compact SUV market. Its high quality and premium interior, which Victoria Beckham gave a helping hand in designing, is also a head turner.
As well as the Evoque being luxurious it also ticks all the other boxes such as safety as it has proved it its recent Euro NCAP crash tests were it achieved five stars. The Evoque can be customised to suite you with an array of engine and transmission combinations.
The Range Rover Evoque is out now and prices start from £27,995. Range Rover vehicles are available from Perry’s Halifax and Huddersfield dealerships.
