While fans of the more performance-based Focus await the new Ford Focus ST in 2012, Ford has introduced a sportier take on the best-selling Zetec trim level to those who cannot wait.
The new Focus Zetec S model will be the range’s ‘sportiest edition yet’, according to Ford. It will offer slightly different modifications to the original Ford Focus including 17″ alloy wheels, sport suspension, sport pedals and specialised front and rear spoilers.
The new Zetec S will be available in both a five door and estate body style with the latter arriving in 2012.
Anthony Ireson, Ford Britain marketing director, said: “Zetec S models have always been popular with UK customers and so we are delighted to welcome our new Focus Zetec S to the range. With sporty exterior body styling and impressive performance and economy, this latest addition is set to be another showroom hit.”
Under the bonnet the Zetec offers four engines, two diesel and two petrol. The petrol range offers two 1.6-litre engines of which have power outputs of 178hp and 123hp. The diesel range offers a 1.6-litre (114hp) engine and a 2.0-litre (163hp) engine.
Ford’s EcoBoost and ECOnetic models are available in this engine range and deliver better economical figures.
Ireson added: “With sporty exterior body styling and impressive performance and economy, this latest addition is set to be another showroom hit.”
The Ford Focus Zetec S starts from £18,745 and is available to buy now. Ford vehicles are available from Perry’s Aylesbury and High Wycombe dealerships.
