Citroen explores new technology to advertise DS5

Citroen has released new cinemagraphs (subtly moving images) to advertise its new DS5 models, which represents a first for the manufacturer.

These cinemagraphs have been produced by Citron to display the DS5’s personality and presence on the road, which is different to many other models, according to the French car maker.

These cinemagraphs are part of Citroen’s ‘Créative Technologie’, a tagline first used in the famous ‘dancing robot’ advert for the Citroen C4. The tagline is designed to highlight the level of equipment in the French manufacturer’s cars.

Citroen has added a key new piece of technology into the DS5 model for 2012 – its Hybrid4 engine.

This innovative engine, which matches a diesel engine with an electric motor to create one of the first diesel-hybrids in the UK, allows it to emit CO2 emissions of under 100g/km, which means it falls into the bottom road tax band.

This hybrid engine is one of few diesel hybrids on the market and is powered by diesel as well as an electric motor. This engine is the same engine as featured in Peugeot’s 3008 Hybrid4 model, which went on sale in 2011.

Another smart feature of the DS5 is its ability to run a short distance on electric power alone, which is especially useful when you are cruising along in traffic or in a city environment.

The first Citroen DS5 models are expected to go on sale in the UK in 2012. Citroen vehicles are available from Perry’s Barnsley, Huddersfield and Milton Keynes dealerships.
