Ford’s Car of the Year-nominated models include the popular Ford Fiesta and Ford Focus , which have been nominated in the ‘supermini’ and ‘small family car’ categories.
Out of the 13 categories, Ford vehicles have been nominated in five of them with some categories containing two nominated Ford models.
Other nominated models include the Mondeo, Mondeo Estate, Focus Estate, Galaxy and the S-MAX. The Mondeo and Mondeo Estate will be looking to secure ‘Estate’ category and the ‘Family car’ category, of which it won both last year.
Ford’s new technological advances have given Ford the edge in the current market with technology such as MyKey, Ford SYNC and new headlight technology.
Martin Wiecker, research engineer, Ford Global Driver Assistance and Active Safety commented on the new SYNC technology and said:
“Talking cars are no longer merely the stuff of children’s movies, but are now closer than ever to becoming a reality for Ford drivers.”
The awards will take place on Wednesday January 11 2012.
