The new car has not been revealed in the video, but it is described as ‘radically new’ compared to the Peugeot 207.
The new model is expected to use the same designs first seen on the new Peugeot 508 saloon and the updated Peugeot 308, which was given an updated front end early this year.
The new Peugeot 208 will be aimed at the likes of the Ford Fiesta and Vauxhall Corsa, the two most popular small cars in the UK.
Labelling the car ‘classy and efficient’, Peugeot has used the ‘regeneration’ tagline to market its newest car, hinting it is hoping the new 208 will reinvigorate the brand in the same way the Citroen DS3 has made Citroen more desirable in the eyes of car buyers in recent months.
There is already speculation Peugeot is preparing a GTI hot hatch version of the car, but this has not been confirmed by the French car maker.
What has been confirmed however, is the inclusion of engines from BMW in a tie-up with the German manufacturer.
Inside, the only hints the video gives is of a new, unique steering wheel. However, it is expected to boast a slightly more upmarket interior than the Peugeot 207.
Peugeot will reveal the new Peugeot 208 this week. A launch date and expected pricing for the new model have not been announced, but it is expected to make its European debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March next year.
