Citroen has not released any further details of the new model and the single image features a chrome badge with the Aircross name and a compass-inspired logo.
However, it is rumoured to be a crossover-style version of the new Citroen C4 hatchback, which made its UK debut earlier this year.
The Aircross name has been used before by the French manufacturer. The Citroen C3 Aircross was a version of the C3 Picasso designed for the emerging Brazil market including a stripped down specification and a more rugged appearance.
There is speculation from media sources that the new Aircross model will be a new take on the Citroen C4, sitting between the standard model and the upmarket Citroen DS4, which boasts SUV-like ride height and styling.
As a result, the Aircross could fall in between the two Citroen models in terms of price. The new Citroen C4 starts from £15,750 and the Citroen DS4 costs from £18,150.
Citroen will reveal the new Aircross design online on Friday (30 September) after revealing the teaser image this week.
The French car maker is currently in the middle of a new model push which has included the Citroen DS3 supermini, Citroen DS4 hatchback and the Citroen DS5 large family car.
It has also launched a new Citroen C4 hatchback at the start of 2011 and its first ever electric car, the Citroen C-Zero four-seat city car.
