You may have seen the adverts depicting Peugeot cars as jigsaw puzzles, or you may have spoken to a Peugeot owner who has taken advantage of the offer, but it seems interest in Peugeot’s Just Add Fuel scheme is increasing by the day.
Buying a new car can be a complicated business. There are different payment options, different fuel types, body styles and even things such as the choice between a manual or an automatic transmission.
Peugeot has decided to reduce the complexities of buying a car by offering an intriguing new payment option: Just Add Fuel.
What is Peugeot Just Add Fuel?
Peugeot Just Add Fuel does exactly what the name suggests. The idea is to put all major motoring payments into a single monthly payment to make it easier for the driver to manager paying for their car.
This means insurance, servicing, roadside assistance and road tax are all included in a single payment. The offer also includes a warranty and lasts for three years.
The only thing the deal does not cover is fuel.
How much does Just Add Fuel cost?
Prices start from £179 per month, but the cost of the monthly payment will depend on a large number of things. For example, the payments include insurance and this will differ based on the age, experience and previous claims of the owner, as well as the car itself.
It will also depend on the road tax of the individual car, a price based on the official CO2 emissions figures for the car.
As a general rule, the Just Add Fuel payments will be lower for smaller, more frugal cars and for drivers with more experience and less previous insurance claims, but it varies from person to person.
Luckily, Peugeot also offers a Just Add Fuel calculator where drivers can enter their preferred details and the amounts they are paying for the various aspects of car ownership now. The calculator will then find a monthly payment for Just Add Fuel and compare it to current payments – it is even honest enough to tell the driver if they are better off not using the offer!
What are the advantages of Just Add Fuel?
The obvious advantage is the ease of use. Peugeot’s Just Add Fuel offer means scrabbling around for the best insurance quotes and searching for the best roadside assistance operator is all done for you.
It also means the driver does not have several bills coming out at once. Instead, the majority of major motoring costs all come out in one monthly payment.
The second advantage is the fact the Just Add Fuel offer covers a three-year period. This means insurance, road tax, warranty, servicing and roadside assistance will cost the same for the next three years – a luxury drivers not using Just Add Fuel will not have.
The Just Add Fuel package also means you can choose between a monthly payment designed to eventually pay off the car, leaving the driver as the owner of the vehicle after three years, or on a personal finance lease, which means the vehicle is simply handed back at the end of the lease.
The Just Add Fuel package also means all warranty and repair services are official. Services will be completed using official car parts and approved methods, ensuring the highest possible quality of service.
However, it is worth noting insurance criteria does have some caveats which can be found here.
What are the disadvantages of Just Add Fuel?
As stated above, Just Add Fuel is not available for everybody because certain criteria has to be fulfilled for the insurance part of the deal.
It is also important to point out the warranty covers 60,000 miles, so extremely high mileage drivers may find it impractical. However, the average driver covers 10,000 miles a year, falling well within the three-year warranty.
Just Add Fuel also ties the driver into a three-year contract. Whereas this means fixed price motoring for three years, it also means those who like to change their car more often will not be able to do so. Again, this will not be a problem for the average UK driver.
Finally, the Just Add Fuel package may not be for everyone in terms of price. For some, the package may actually be more expensive than finding the different aspects of the package separately. Luckily, this is something the calculator can tell you if you are interested in the Peugeot Just Add Fuel package.
What cars are available on Peugeot Just Add Fuel?
The majority of the Peugeot car range is available with the Just Add Fuel package, with the exception of the Peugeot RCZ 2+2 coupe.
However, the Peugeot 107 city car (excluding Urban Lite versions) start from just £180 on the deal, while the Peugeot 207 supermini (excluding Urban) in both hatchback, SW (or estate) and CC (or convertible) starts from an even a similar monthly price of £179.
The updated Peugeot 308 hatchback, SW and CC are also available on the package, with the exclusion of Urban and SR trim levels.
It is joined by the new Peugeot 508 saloon and Peugeot 508 SW with the exception of SR and GT trims.
Finally, the Peugeot 3008 crossover and Peugeot 5008 MPV are included in the Just Add Fuel package with the exception of the SR trim level for both large Peugeot cars.
