Citroen releases ‘Big Air’ shots

‘Big Air’ is a term made famous by the FIA World Rally Championship – the greatest rallying competition in the world. In the tournament, cars are regularly driven over jumps, resulting in spectacular, gravity-defying leaps from the top rallying drivers.

As expected, Citroen has seen some of the more spectacular ‘Big Air’ moments. The manufacturer has won five manufacturer titles in just nine years since entering the Championship while Sebastien Loeb has become the most successful rally driver in history with six Word Drivers’ Championships.

Citroen’s photographers are no slouches either, and the French manufacturer has released ten of the best ‘Big Air’ images for your viewing pleasure.

Unsurprisingly, Loeb features heavily, with one leap taking his C4 WRC car 85 metres into the air at the Turkish event in 2010.

Commenting on his incredible Turkish jump, Loeb said: "It was an incredible sensation as we were up in the air for several seconds. Not for a moment did we imagine that we would jump so far."

Loeb is ahead in the drivers’ standings again this year heading into the Finland event and Citroen leads the Manufacturer’s table.

In the meantime, here are the top ten images, featuring greats such as Loeb, Colin McRae and Dani Sordo.
