Industry stats reveal Perrys’ success

The Perrys Motors was once again in the top ten most searched for car dealer websites in the UK, according to the latest data from Experian Hitwise.

Researching and even buying cars online is a rapidly growing area and here at Perrys, we have embraced it early with a dedicated online magazine featuring news, reviews, videos and all the data needed to make the car buying process as easy as possible.

The vast reams of data from Experian Hitwise in the latest quarterly industry roundup highlights this, and also throws up a couple of interesting figures.

For example, it is not surprising to see Ford top the list of most searched for manufacturers online. One in ten searches for cars online was for Ford, a testament to the success of the two best-selling cars in the UK in 2011, the Ford Fiesta and Ford Focus.

Land Rover saw the number of searches rise drastically in April 2011-June 2011, mostly due to excitement around the launch of the new Range Rover Evoque.

Peugeot also enjoyed success as the new Peugeot 308 and Peugeot 508 models impressed buyers.
Fiat and Mazda both rose up the ‘most searched for’ rankings, but the big winner has to be Jaguar. The luxury British-based car maker entered the top ten thanks to the popularity of its new range, which includes the Jaguar XF executive saloon and the luxurious Jaguar XJ.

The data didn’t just show the successful brands in the second quarter of 2011, it also highlighted the growing trend towards used cars after searches for HPI checks increased by 5.7 per cent in the past year.

This could be due to the economic situation, forcing people to look at cheaper used cars instead of new models. The HPI check is an essential part of buying a used car because it can highlight any problems with the car’s history such as outstanding finance.

The data also shows people are shopping round more for car insurance quotes as premiums continue to rise in price. The search term ‘car insurance quote’ was tripled in the last quarter as more drivers try to reduce their driving costs.

The Automotive Industry quarterly review makes interesting reading and provides a brief snapshot of the car industry as it is today.

All-in-all, there’s plenty to be positive about with Perrys performing well in the dealership category and British-based car makers such as Land Rover and Jaguar thriving, securing important jobs throughout the country.
