The Mazda MX-5 Sport Black features some of the styling seen in the MX-5 GT, which took part in the 2011 Britcar Championship.
However, the car shares the 2.0-litre 160ps engine used in the Mazda MX-5 Sport Tech specification matched to a six-speed transmission.
This means a black retractable roof is included alongside a choice of green, white or red body colours. The roof is electrically operated and can be lowered in just 12 seconds.
The exterior design is completed by dark ‘gun metal’ 17" alloy wheels and the interior has been suitably updated to match the exclusivity of the special edition – only 500 will be sold in the UK.
Black leather upholstery and a sand coloured stitching to set it off adorns the interior. This is complemented by Piano Black steering wheel and panels and Limited Edition floor mats.
Each model comes with Black Limited Edition badging and a numbered plaque inside.
Equipment is increased over standard MX-5 models. Climate control air-con, cruise control and front fog lights are all included as standard on the limited edition model.
A high-end BOSE sound system incorporating Bluetooth is also included in the standard specification. The extra equipment does add £360 more to the price, which costs £22,995 in the UK.
The Mazda MX-5 roadster is the most popular two-seat sports car in the world, enjoying a 21-year production run since the first generation was launched.
The latest Sport Black Limited Edition follows another special edition model, the Mazda MX-5 Kendo was launched earlier this year and a special anniversary edition was released in 2010 to celebrate the car’s 20th birthday.
