Jaguar to take on Tour de France

British cyclists Bradley Wiggins, Geraint Thomas and Ben Swift will all be taking part in the famous race, which covers 2,156 miles across 12 mountainous stages.

Widely recognised as one of the most gruelling sporting events in the world, the Tour de France will start on 2 July.

Team Sky, the team formed last year, will be sponsored by British-based car maker Jaguar for this years’ event, meaning a selection of ten Jaguar cars will travel the route to support the team.

The specially adapted Jaguar XF saloons and Jaguar XJs will boast roof-mounted spare frames for the bikes as well as transporting riders and crew throughout the event.

Jaguar’s sponsorship of the team means the crew will be travelling in some of the most luxurious saloons on the market.

Geoff Cousins, Managing Director of Jaguar Cars UK, said: "We’re pleased to be able to continue our support of such a promising and dedicated team. We wish the riders the very best of luck and look forward to following their progress this season."

The Jaguar XJ, the most recent Jaguar to be launched, features 15 different interior colour themes and a choice of high quality upholstery and materials.

The high-spec models will include dual zone climate control and a media ‘hub’ featuring a digital radio, MP3 plate and high specification sound system.

Starting from £55,515, the Jaguar XJ is available in short or long wheelbase versions and comes with a choice of 3.0-litre diesel, 5.0-litre V8 petrol or a 5.0-litre petrol Supersport engine.

Meanwhile, the Jaguar XF saloon was recently upgraded with tweaks to the exterior design to bring it up to date with the rest of the Jaguar range.
