Fittingly named the Vauxhall Corsa VXR Nurburgring Edition after the famous German circuit, the new hot hatch comes with a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine producing 205PS at 5,750rpm.
This is 13Ps more than the standard Vauxhall Corsa VXR and it develops 250-280Nm of torque – again up on the standard model.
This results in a possible top speed of 143mph and a 0-60mph time of six and a half seconds for the Nurburgring edition.
New cosmetic touches such as a stainless steel dual exhaust, aluminium wheels and Nurburgring logos on the B-Pillars attest to the hot hatch potential of the newcomer.
Not all changes are cosmetic however, Vauxhall has been forced to modify the three-door hatchback to cope with the extra power, most notably by adding a multi-plate limited-slip differential. This helps traction off the line and reduces understeer when cornering.
The brakes have been developed to be 30 per cent lighter than before and the Traction Control and Electronic Stability Control have been tweaked to cope with the extra power.
Even the rise height has been lowered to improve the amount of control the driver has through reworked spring and damper units.
Available in green or red, the Vauxhall Corsa VXR Nurburgring Edition comes with a unique interior complete with Nurburgring lettering, Recaro seats and bespoke white stitching on the upholstery.
The latest hot hatch from the Vauxhall garage will go on sale in the UK in May. The price of the Vauxhall Corsa VXR Nurburgring Edition is £22,295.
