The special edition Jaguar XKR, named the XKR-S, made its world debut last week at the Geneva Motor Show, where the Big Cat introduced the 542bhp supercharged V8 engine to the XKR performance-coupe range.
Jaguar has modified the suspension and uprated the brakes to cope with the extra power. This delivers a top speed of 186mph – 60mph of which can be hit in just 4.2 seconds.
Some new aerodynamic design to the exterior helps reduce drag and keeps the car more stable at higher speeds, while the steering has been slightly tweaked to improve handling.
There are also some new alloy wheels for the XKR-S and some new body colours – including the blue model introduced at the Geneva Motor Show.
Inside, there are sporty bucket seats and an update to trim and upholstery to match the prowess of the latest special edition XKR.
The price reflects the sporty performance upgrades. A new Jaguar XKR-S comes in at £97,000 and will go on sale in the UK in September.
The Jaguar will appear at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in April where it will tackle the famous hill climb alongside other supercars and classic models.
Its UK debut will coincide with the 50th anniversary of another Jaguar model, the E-Type. To honour the E-Type, Jaguar will unveil a ‘central feature’ in front of Goodwood House.
The sculpture is always a highlight of the Goodwood event. Last year, Alfa created a sculpture to celebrate its centenary, featuring stunning cars such as the 8C Competizione.
