Ford Fiesta hits one million sales

The class-leading supermini has sold over 1,000 units a day since its launch, making it the best-selling small car in Europe over the past two years.

Nearly a quarter of sales came in the UK, where the Ford Fiesta is one of the most popular cars on the market, regularly topping the monthly sales charts.

Now, Ford has announced details of the most popular Ford Fiesta available to buy now based on the one million sales so far.

On average, the three-quarters of all buyers choose a higher spec model and the most popular colour is black.

The typical Ford Fiesta sold in the UK would be a five-door, petrol powered model with a manual transmission, according to Ford’s figures.

It would also feature Voice Control, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, the most popular option to add to the standard Ford Fiesta specification.

This year, the Ford Fiesta has only been outsold by the larger Ford Focus in the UK. To date, it has clocked up 8,248 sales in the UK – more than 1,000 more than its main rival, the Vauxhall Corsa.

Priced from just £9,995, the Ford Fiesta is available with a range of petrol and diesel engines including an ECOnetic option, which brings CO2 emissions below 100g/km and qualifies the car for zero road tax in the UK.

Ford says the ECOnetic option is increasingly popular, with six per cent of all new Ford Fiesta buyers choosing the option delivering lower running costs.
