The Citroen DS4 hatchback is not available to buy in the UK – it is scheduled to go on sale in autumn 2011 – but this is your first chance to see what it will look like on the road.
Citroen has released a promo video of its newest upmarket family hatchback to celebrate the European unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show next week.
As you can see, the hatchback has been designed for the upper end of the market, competing with the higher specification Ford Focus models and other newcomers such as the stylish Alfa Giulietta Cloverleaf model.
The DS Line was first introduced on the smaller DS3 supermini, and while the more dynamic styling and use of high quality materials inside and out led to a huge sales success, applying the same treatment to the DS4 has always been seen as the car which would really change perceptions of the French marque.
This is because the DS makeover lends itself to a family hatchback. Its coupe-like roofline and minimalist but stylish front end will impress those looking for an eye-catching car, while the luxurious, comfortable and not to mention spacious interior allows the DS4 to double as a family car – and one the kids won’t be embarrassed to be seen in.
So much so in fact, the car was voted the most beautiful car in 2011 at the International Automobile Awards 2011 for both the exterior and interior.
As part of a countdown to the Geneva Show, which will boast a huge range of new models on flamboyant stands, it’s interesting to see the Citroen DS4 still looks good on the roads, as the video below shows.
