Brakes and tyres should be checked regularly because they are essential to avoid accidents on the road if the driver is forced to stop quickly.
A team of qualified mechanics will check Mazda cars for free at Perrys on Northgate to ensure customers are driving legal and safe cars.
"It is important to check your brakes at least once a year to ensure the driver and passengers are safe. Aside from the obvious result of an accident, regular brake inspections could help prevent costly bills for more severe damage," said Steve Garth, General Manager at Perrys.
"It’s important to note the penalties for driving a car with dangerous brakes, or tyres below the legal tread limit of 1.6mm are severe. Drivers can face a fine of £2,500 and receive three penalty points."
The check includes inspection of the brake components, handbrakes and brake fluid. The tyres will also be checked for general condition, tyre tread depth and wear and tear.
Checks are required once a year even if the cars are equipped with safety technology. For example, the new Mazda5 comes with a five-star EuroNCAP safety rating and includes Electronic Stability Control, traction control, emergency stop signalling and brake override system to improve in-car safety.
However, if the tyres or brakes are damaged, it could increase the risk of an accident. To find out more about the Mazda Brake and Tyre Check, please call Perrys on 01484 481 250 or visit the showroom on Northgate, Huddersfield.
