Based on the stylish, customisable DS3 supermini released last year, the DS3 Racing adds a sharp new look and a powerful 196bhp engine capable of propelling it to 62mph in 6.9 seconds. It can go on to hit 140mph where legal.
However, the advanced engine also delivers CO2 emissions of 149g/km and fuel economy of 44.1mpg – impressive for the sporty hot hatch segment.
Decked out in a choice of black and orange or white and black colour schemes, the hot hatch also features some of the technology from the premium specification of the standard car, including automatic digital air conditioning, Bluetooth, an eight-speaker sound system and Electronic Stability Programme.
Exterior touches include alloy wheels, brake callipers, wheel surrounds and a sportier front bumper with carbon finish side skirts.
The latest models, which will be available with the new ’11’ registration plates, will only be delivered after six months when ordered in March.
However, customers who do get their hands on one will be one of only 200 to own a right-hand drive version.
In total only 1,00 units will be sold worldwide, ensuring the DS3 Racing will remain an extremely exclusive vehicle.
The Citroen DS3 Racing, which has also inspired a car set to compete in the World Rally Championships, is available for £23,100 in-the-road.
The standard DS3 is available to buy now in the UK. A second model in the more upmarket DS Line will arrive this year in the shape of the DS4 and a larger DS5 model is expected to be revealed before an expected 2012 launch.
