Fittingly named the Alfa MiTo Sprint and decked out in ‘Union Jack’ red, white and blue, the special addition will add extra ‘performance and driveability’ to the three-door supermini, according to the Italian manufacturer.
The sporting additions include a rear spoiler, 16" alloy wheels, fog lights and a one-off Sprint badge. In total, over £1,500 worth of equipment has been added to the standard specification.
Cruise control, Bluetooth, media player with USB connectivity and a hands-free system with voice recognition is included as standard.
Inside the cabin, the steering wheel is trimmed with leather and features remote audio controls.
The Alfa Romeo MiTo Sprint is offered with a choice of two 1.4-litre petrol engines and a single diesel. The petrol options include a 16V 95bhp model and a 135bhp engine using Alfa’s innovative MultiAir technology designed to improve economy and boost power.
The diesel engine is a 1.3-litre 95bhp turbodiesel unit and is priced at £14,845. In comparison, the petrol engines cost £13,295 and £16,395. The latter is the price of the MultiAir model complete with Alfa’s TCT automatic transmission.
Alfa Romeo currently sponsors UK athletics and supplies cars to stars such as Phillips Idowu, Kelly Sotherton and Christine Ohuruoga.
The new special edition Alfa Romeo MiTo Sprint is available from Alfa Romeo dealers now. A choice of red, white or blue body colours is offered with each model.
