The Monaco GP name, based on the world famous Monaco Grand Prix circuit, was first used on a special edition Laguna and Renault has confirmed a new version will be launched in spring 2011.
Designed to celebrate Renault’s huge success in motor sport, the second Laguna Monaco GP limited edition to be launched within 12 months will boast several sporty features.
The main addition is Renault’s 4Control four-wheel drive system, which improves steering and handling on the Laguna saloon and give the driving dynamics a sportier feel.
The system is available on the larger of two engines offered with the special edition, the 2.0-litre dCi 180bhp. The other engine is a slightly less powerful 2.0-litre dCi 150bhp unit.
These include 18" Chrome Shadow alloy wheels and Monaco GP badges on the unique upholstery and exterior.
Inside, the car will benefit from rear parking sensors, satellite navigation, a ten-speaker BOSE sound system, electric folding door mirrors and the option of leather seats with Monaco GP stitching.
It is also expected to feature the same pearlescent white paint job and contrasting gloss black roof of the previously available models.
The Laguna Monaco GP special edition will go on sale alongside the Renault Megane Coupe Monaco special edition from April 2011.
Previously, a small number of Renault Laguna Monaco GP special edition models were sold in the UK between July and September last year. The car was priced at £24,995 and a similar starting price is expected to available when it arrives this year.
