At the 26th International Automobile Festival over 60,000 people voted for their most beautiful car of the year and chose the second car in Citroen’s upmarket DS Line as the overall winner.
The Citroen DS4 hatchback is not on sale in the UK until the second half of 2011, but the Ford Focus rival wowed judges and the public with its dramatic styling and premium touches.
The car boasts muscular wheel arches to house 19" wheels and features LED lights and a sporty rear spoiler to complete the look.
DS4 designers added a new grille, chrome highlights on the wing mirrors and window surrounds and an interior in keeping with the smaller DS3 supermini featuring premium materials for the latest model.
Judges at the Festival voted the interior the ‘Most Beautiful’ thanks to leather upholstery, sculptured dashboard and a panoramic windscreen.
Citroen has labelled the DS4 more of a four-door coupe than a hatchback, but it is based on the more toned down C4 hatchback, which arrives in the UK months before the premium version is released.
According to Citroen: "DS4, revealed at the Paris Motor Show in October 2010, is yet further proof of the brand’s "Créative Technologie".
"It fully honours the philosophy of the DS line, with its bold stance on styling, driving sensations, architecture and sophistication."
A third model to join the DS range, the larger DS5, is expected to be revealed in 2011 and rumours a drop-top DS3 to expand the range persist.
The Citroen DS3 has been a success for the manufacturer since its launch last year. The premium supermini was the first in the DS Line – a line revived by Citroen to target the likes of Mini and the Fiat 500.
