First electric Peugeot iOns sold in UK

Perrys in Milton Keynes is one of the first to sell the four-door electric vehicle and has been given specialist training to sales, aftercare and maintenance staff to cope with the new demands electric cars bring.

The Peugeot iOn is available on a four-year leasing contract which allows Peugeot to absorb the costs of the battery pack and reduce the price for buyers.

The car also qualifies for the government’s plug-in hybrid grant cutting the price of the car by £5,000.

Phil Robson, Fleet Sales Director at Peugeot UK, said: "Electric cars are an important part of future urban mobility, alongside hybrid vehicles and highly efficient diesel and petrol engines.

"Together these new vehicles will help reduce CO2 emissions and reduce customers’ motoring costs."

The four-seat Peugeot iOn is one of the first mass-produced electric cars to be sold in the UK and boasts a range of 95 miles on full charge.

It can be charged fully from a standard household socket in six hours, or to 80 per cent charge in 30 minutes using a fast charging station.

The car is expected to be popular with UK fleets managers because it produces zero tailpipe emissions – the criteria VED and the London congestion charge is based on.

Under Peugeot’s specialist dealer program, the Milton Keynes showroom will receive a test car and charging station to allow customers the chance to test drive a Peugeot iOn.

The team is also trained to service and maintain the car, which boasts an all electric powertrain comprising a lithium ion battery and electric motor to drive the wheels.

The Peugeot iOn is available to buy now on a four-year leasing contract.
