The more upmarket supermini from Citroen lends itself to special editions from fashion houses because of the wide range of customisable options both inside and out.
The DS3 by Orla Kiely Collection is no different, with a choice of four body colours and four roof designs. Kiely’s signature stem and acorn patterns adorn all four, and the pattern is repeated on the rear tailgate alongside a unique signature.
Coloured door mirrors, stem print rear window graphics and a choice of black or white alloy wheels complete the exterior looks.
Inside, Kiely continues the stem or acorn themes with printed carpet mats and contrasting colour dashboard. Leather upholstery and door handle inserts add to the luxury feel inside the special edition DS3.
Aside from the fashionista’s touches, all models are based on the DStyle HDi 90 manual model and costs £16,000 on-the-road.
Orla Kiely said: "Collaborating with Citroën and DS3 was such an exciting project as it’s so different from all my previous work. I love the designs we’ve created and the way they’re incorporated into the car!"
The Citroen DS3 is no stranger to fashion crossovers. The DS3 teamed up with French label Yves Saint Laurent last year for a one-off special edition show car for an exhibition to celebrate the designer’s work.
Mark Lloyd, Chief Designer of DS3, added; "Citroën has a continuing affinity with the worlds of fashion and design, exemplified by the chic DS and iconic 2CV – archetypal models reflecting the glamour and enduring style of their period."
The Citroen DS3 will be joined by the second model in the DS Line of cars, the DS4 hatchback, in 2011. A third model, the Citroen DS5, is expected to be revealed in 2011.
The DS3 by Orla Kiely Collection will be available to buy from 1 February in the UK, but only 500 models will be made.
