The British-based brands have experienced rising sales in 2010 because of revamped model ranges and exciting new launches planned for 2011.
Now What Car? – one of the most influential motoring magazines in Europe – has named handed honours to the Land Rover Discovery, Range Rover Evoque and Jaguar XF in its latest awards ceremony held at Grosvenor House, London.
The Land Rover Discovery 4’s victory in the 4×4 category was particularly impressive because it was the seventh consecutive time the premium SUV has topped the list.
What Car? Editor-in-Chief, Steve Fowler said: “We’ve loved the Land Rover Discovery ever since we made it Car of the Year in 2005 and this is its seventh What Car? Award – an amazing feat. Nothing can beat its 4×4 abilities combined with executive car quality and family friendly features – it’s a real iconic car.”
The long-running model was joined on the podium by a car which has not been released in the UK yet. The Range Rover Evoque, Land Rover’s smallest, lightest and most environmentally friendly model ever, took home the Reader’s Award for the most exciting model to be released in 2011.
Described as having ‘sensational looks’ by Fowler, the Evoque was a runaway winner in the award, which is chosen by What Car? readers.
Fellow Tata-owned brand Jaguar also took home an award in the shape of the Best Executive Car for the Jaguar XF.
Released in 2008, the Jaguar XF finished ahead of rivals from German brands such as BMW, Audi and Mercedes to take the title.
The award continues the XF’s domination of the category after previously triumphing in the past three years.
Fowler said: "We love everything about the XF: it looks fantastic, drives brilliantly and makes real financial sense, too."
The XF is no stranger to awards after picking up nearly 80 international awards since it was launched.
