The KV7 concept car is an SUV with designs taken from the likes of the Soul and Sportage crossovers. However, inside the four-seat arrangement is more reminiscent of the recent Kia Pop futuristic mobility concept.
The unique rear seats appear to be able to swivel, and the compact design of the seats means the cabin and rear areas are extremely roomy for passengers.
The car features striking alloy wheels, muscular, flared wheel arches and a wrap-around rear windscreen sitting on top of thin, futuristic rear lights.
Many of the more outlandish features are not expected to make it onto a production version of the KV7, but the Korean manufacturer has hinted at a future production model based on the concept.
According to Kia: "In recent years Kia Motors’ design-led transformation has been delivering production vehicles – such as the Soul, Sportage and Sorento – that bear a very close resemblance to the original concept designs that preceded them."
The car will be officially revealed to media on 10 January, and will be on show at the Detroit show until 23 January.
It is not known if any future production car will be released in the UK, or if the large SUV will share the 4×4 ability of the Sportage.
However, it is highly likely it will hint at a future production car and continue to manufacturer’s focus on SUV and crossover vehicles.
