Based on the Fiat Doblo MPV and boasting the same idiosyncratic looks as its car sibling, the Doblo Cargo was awarded the light van title based on its styling, versatility, practicality and comfort.
"Fiat’s Doblò Cargo made a real impression when it was launched earlier in 2010, and it’s a worthy winner of the What Van? 2011 Light Van of the Year award," says What Van? editor Paul Barker. "Smartly styled, efficient, practical and comfortable, theDoblò Cargo was a natural choice for our Light Van category winner."
The van was favourite for the award after picking up the International Van of the Year and Fleet Van of the Year titles in the past few months.
"Our customers have told us how much they like the Doblò Cargo, and it’s clear that commercial vehicle experts do too. We’re delighted with this award," said Gerry Clarke, director, Fiat Professional UK.
The Doblo Cargo is available in a host of different body styles, including Cargo, Cargo Maxi, Cargo SX, Cargo Maxi SX, Combi, Combi Maxi and Platform Cab.
It’s latest iteration also comes fitted with engines that comply with new Euro 5 emissions regulations, which come into effect for vans at the end of 2011.
This means a 15 per cent reduction in fuel consumption thanks to Start&Stop technology, which switches the engine off when the car is waiting in heavy traffic.
It also guarantees to meet EU targets for diesel particulates and NOx, both of which are harmful emissions. The best-performing diesel engine offers just 126g/km of CO2 emissions.
Petrol versions are also available for the new What Van? Light Van of the Year, and prices for the Fiat Doblo Cargo start from £11,305 before VAT.
