Vauxhall cuts prices by 20 per cent

From 27 December until 31 January 2011, nearly all cars in the Vauxhall range will be available with 20 per cent off the normal list price before additional options are added.

This will apply to cars such as the Corsa supermini, Astra hatchback and Insignia MPV across the Vauxhall range.

Vauxhall has labelled the offer the ‘Vauxhall Countdown’ towards the new 20 per cent of VAT, which could add hundreds of pounds to the cost of a new car when it is introduced early next year.

As an example of the offer, a Vauxhall Astra hatchback – the second most popular family hatchback in the UK in 2010 – with a 1.4-litre, 100PS engine in Exclusiv specification will be offered with a discount of £3,190.

A Vauxhall Corsa supermini comes with savings up to £3,400, while the Agila offers up to £1,890 off depending on the model.

As part of the ‘Countdown’, Vauxhall will also offer the 20 per cent discount for its performance VXR range such as the Insignia VXR.

"We’re committed to reducing the pain of the latest VAT rise as much as possible," said Peter Hope, Vauxhall’s Marketing Director. "Vauxhall Countdown is a no-nonsense 20 per cent discount that applies across almost all models in our range. It has instant appeal for all our customers and makes ownership of some of our latest, award-winning cars even more attractive than before."

The offer will apply to all Vauxhall cars with the exception of the Antara 4×4, Zafira Exclusiv, all models with Expression and ES trim and the new 2011 Vauxhall Corsa.
