The ultra-efficient model will be used by the ex-Holby City actor to get to stages across the country for a six-week run of White Christmas: The Musical.
While not known as an executive car, the compact city car does offer CO2 emissions of just 95g/km – the lowest of any petrol model currently sold in the UK.
The efficient TwinAir technology means the Fiat 500 TwinAir is exempt from road tax and the London congestion car in the UK as well as returning fuel consumption of up to 68.9mpg on the combined cycle.
The two-cylinder 875cc, 85bhp engine is an evolution of the MultiAir technology first used in the Alfa Romeo MiTo in 2010, and has been adapted to create the smallest and most efficient engine in the Fiat range.
"My job as an actor takes me all over the country, just as White Christmas has, so it’s important I have a car that can get me where I need to be safely, reliably and economically," says Tom. "It’s well-known that I love the Fiat 500, and I’m particularly excited about having this latest model with the new TwinAir engine."
The ex-Waterloo Road actor revealed he has owned Fiat 500 models for two years, including an original 1965 version of the retro-styled car.
The TwinAir will be available in various guises, including a drop-top version and special edition models designed by fashion label DIESEL.
The new 500 TwinAir range starts at £10,665 (OTR) for the TwinAir Pop and rises to £16,065 (OTR) for the convertible 500C TwinAir byDIESEL.
