The Association of Car Fleet Operators has voted the compact van the best for fleet operators once again in its annual award ceremony, something it has done every year since 2003.
Over 800 members of the UK’s fleet industry voted during the awards based on their experiences of their own fleet over the previous year.
The Ford Transit Connect was always expected to extend its record. The van is the most popular small van in the UK and builds on the success of the larger Transit van – a name synonymous with commercial use.
The decision was based on safety, reliability, environmental friendliness and the cost of running the vans. It also looked at the vehicle suppliers and the amount of downtime the vehicle clocked up.
Kevin Griffin, Ford Britain fleet director said: “We are delighted to receive this award, which reflects the opinions of actual fleet customers. Eight awards in eight years for the Transit Connect underlines and recognises Ford’s commercial vehicle success and why Ford is first choice for thousands of British businesses.”
On sale from less than £10,000, the Transit Connect is available in short- or long-wheel bases and with low and high roof heights to suit every business need.
The car-like handling and low-CO2 Duratorq engines appeal to businesses operating in busy cities, while features such a side load doors and a load box with tie down fixings add practicality to the small van.
The van has also picked up three consecutive What Van? Light Van of the Year awards, and Ford has been named Most Reliable Van Manufacturer by Fleet News on two occasions.
