Ford has invited fans and bloggers to the National Institute for Aerospace Technology (INTA) near Madrid to test the new family hatchback on a variety of different road surfaces.
The ‘Ford Focus Global Test Drive’ has been introduced to showcase the next generation Ford Focus, which will be nearly identical across 122 world markets.
Previously Ford has modified the Focus to suit each market, but a new One Ford strategy means the Focus will now share 80 per cent of its parts across all markets.
At INTA, the Focus will be tested over ten surface areas to showcase its driving dynamics during the three day event.
"Based on what we have learned with the Fiesta Movement and other social media launch efforts, we chose this unique location to give consumers and bloggers a very special experience," said Jim Farley, group vice president of Global Marketing, Sales & Service.
"Our guests get a unique, once-in-a-lifetime experience behind the wheel of the all-new Focus, within a world-class proving ground facility."
The lucky guests will be selected based on a video application. The winning contestants will then be asked to raise the equivalent of $10,000 for a charity of their choice before taking part in the test drive.
The new Ford Focus will arrive in the UK in March or April next year. The most popular family hatchback in the UK is expected to continue the popularity of the Focus range, while an estate and possible RS-style performance version are expected to follow.
Customers in the UK who are not attending the global test drive will be able to test drive the new Focus in dealerships such as Perrys early next year.
