New Seat Alhambra available now from £22,330

The seven-seat MPV measures in at 4.8 metres, making it the largest car the Spanish manufacturer has ever produced.

However, Seat has aimed to transplant all the characteristics associated with its smaller cars such as the Leon and Ibiza into the Alhambra.

This means drag is reduced by a specially-designed dynamic exterior but practicality isn’t compromised with two all-new sliding rear doors to improve access in crowded car parks.

Inside, the seven seats remain from the previous version, but a new fold-flat system has been introduced to the second and third row of seats to create a large luggage area of up to 2,297 litres if needed.

Equipment is specified across three trim levels; S, SE and the range-topping SE Lux. All trim levels include climate control, parking sensors at the front and rear, electronic handbrake and 16" alloy wheels.

Extra equipment such as leather upholstery, panoramic glass sunroof, power-operated sliding doors and satnav are included in higher specification models.

Seat UK Product Manager James Bucknall has labelled the Alhambra the ‘most technology advanced model to date’ from the brand.

He added: "I’m extremely proud of the new Alhambra as I believe it shows that family-sized seven seaters can be both good to look at and great to drive."

Powering the Alhambra are two 2.0-litre common rail turbodiesel engines offering 140PS or 170PS and matched with a six-speed manual or six-speed DSG, depending on the trim level.

Alternatively, a 1.4-litre TSI turbocharged direct injection petrol engine is also offered with both manual and automatic transmissions.

However, it is the smaller of the two diesels which will boast Seat’s E Ecomotive badge to signify the lowest CO2 emissions in the range at just 146g/km.

All models come with fuel-saving Stop/Start and Brake Energy Recovery technology and the most frugal engine, again the 2.0-litre 140PS diesel, delivers fuel consumption of 50.4mpg.

The Seat Alhambra is available to buy now from Perrys Seat dealerships. Prices for the seven-seat people carrier start from £22,330.
