Priced at £11,435, the increase in capacity brings it in line with the Ford Transit Connect van, whose payload ranges from 625kg to 900kg.
The 25 per cent increase in payload capacity has also led to a subtle name change for the van, which now goes under the Berlingo First 750 moniker.
Robert Handyside, Citroën’s Commercial Vehicle Operations Manager, comments; "The well-proven Berlingo First is now an even better budget choice for van buyers. With its latest payload and towing gains, this van remains a practical and economical choice for a wide range of businesses."
The revamp has also led to an increased towing capacity of 1,070kg but the vehicle weight has also increased from 1,730kg to 1,955kg.
Power comes from a 1.6-litre HDi 75bhp engine. The engine is Euro 4 compliant (vans do not need to be Euro 5 compliant until 2012) and delivers 175 lb ft of torque at 1750rpm.
This translates to relatively low emissions of 143g/lm and best fuel economy figures of 52.3mpg on the combined cycle.
The Citroen Berlingo First 750 comes with remote control central locking, electric front window, electrically and adjustable passenger side door mirror as standard.
Practicality comes from a near-side sliding load door for easier access to the rear of the van.
The new Citroen Berlingo First 750 is available now for a price of £11,435.
