Mazda5 MPV is ‘built for families’

"Exciting new Nagare styling, a range of punchy and clean petrol and diesel engines and seven-seater versatility – the New Mazda5 really is the ideal car for today’s families," says Mark Cameron, Sales Director for Mazda UK.

Much has been made of the flowing Nagare styling, an unusual choice for an MPV and one which caused designers a number of problems when making the wave-like touches on the flanks of the seven-seater.

However, the Mazda5 also includes twin sliding rear doors for easy access, seven seats with versatile seating configurations and a host of safety features for families.

These include Dynamic Stability Control, traction control and ISOFIX child seats as standard in all Mazda5 models.

"Its twin rear sliding doors – a real advantage for access in tight spaces – are complimented by our adaptable cabin layout that offers all the design intelligence you’d expect from a full seven-seat compact people carrier wearing a Mazda badge," said Cameron.

The model is aimed at families who need a practical large car. To do this, Mazda has introduced three more efficient engine choices for the Mazda5 MPV.

These include a 1.8-litre 115bhp and a 2.0-litre 150bhp petrol engine along with a frugal 1.6-litre diesel. To appeal to families, the diesel offers just 138g/km of CO2 emissions and fuel economy of 54.3mpg on the combined cycle.

All models boast air conditioning, cruise control, a six-speaker CD audio unit and alloy wheels as standard with higher specification models receiving added equipment.

Cameron added: "And of course, this is a Mazda, so it will be an engaging and athletic drive, no matter who’s on board and what the destination."

The Mazda5 is now on sale in the UK from £17,695 on-the-road and comes in TS, TS2 and Sport trim levels.
