Ford reveals high-spec Mondeo with 60-plates

Only 3,000 Ford Mondeo Sport special edition models will be sold in the UK, all of which will feature the new 60-plates introduced in September this year.

The £2,000 of extra equipment includes 17" alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors and solar reflect windscreen to keep the cabin cool.

Other features include automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers and self-dimming rear view mirror and customers can customise the car with four exterior body colours including white, black, grey and silver.

This builds on the standard specification from the mid-range Zetec specification which includes electric front and rear windows, cruise control, climate control and Bluetooth connectivity.

The Ford Mondeo Sport is available in both estate and hatchback body styles and comes with a choice of petrol or diesel engine.

The diesel option comprises a 1.8-litre 125PS unit offering CO2 emissions of 154g/km and combined cycle fuel economy of 48.7mpg in the five-door hatchback model.

A maximum speed of 130mph and acceleration from 0-62mph in 10.2 seconds are possible with the diesel model, which costs £300 more than the Zetec series it is based on at £19,495.

Similarly, petrol model, which houses a 2.0-litre 145PS petrol engine under the bonnet, is similarly priced compared the Zetec trim at £18,795.

Jon Gunn-Smith, Ford large car product manager, said: “Mondeo Sport represents the outstanding value typical of all vehicles sporting the Blue Oval badge. It will be on sale for a limited period during the lifetime of the new ’60’ plate, so interested customers should get in quick.”

Both the petrol and diesel versions of the Mondeo Sport will be available to UK buyers from 1 September.
