The warranty is valid for up to 100,000 miles, meaning it matches the Chevrolet five-year100,000 miles warranty and the seven year100,000 warranty offered by Kia.
However, less frequent drivers will be covered for more than the previous longest warranty of seven years offered by Kia as long at the mileage is below 100,000, making the new Vauxhall warranty potentially the longest available anywhere in the UK.
‘With the Vauxhall Lifetime Warranty, we are making a strong statement of confidence in the quality of our products and a clear intent to provide the very best customer service in the UK,’ said Duncan Aldred, Managing Director of Vauxhall Motors.
The warranty covers powertrain, steering, brakes and electrical equipment throughout the vehicle’s lifetime and can be used as any Vauxhall retailer. It also includes a free annual inspection.
The warranty includes a six-year anti-perforation corrosion warranty and 12 months free Vauxhall assistance for the UK and Europe, but does not cover routine service and maintenance items.
New Vauxhall models such as the Meriva and Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer will be available under the new warranty, although the extended range electric Ampera is expected to be offered with a different warranty when it arrives because of the battery powertrain.
The lifetime warranty applies to any Vauxhall registered after 1 August 2010 and is dependent on a yearly visit to a Vauxhall retailer for a free annual inspection, where the warranty card will be renewed for another 12 months.
