Fiat’s most recent 500 special edition was a flamboyant Pink version, but the 500 BlackJack sits at the other end of the scale with, according to the manufacturer ‘irreverent and mysterious’.
The Italian manufacturer says it is the first city car to offer matt black paint, but interested customers will need to move quickly because only 200 examples will be made.
The 500 BlackJack costs £12,165 and comes with a 1.2-litre engine in the Sport specification. A more powerful 1.4-litre model is also available for £13,565.
Sport specification models come with an array of equipment including electric front windows, MP3 CD player, Blue&Me hands free system, air conditioning, leather sports trim, leather steering wheel, sports trim and a rear spoiler and foglights.
On top of the Sport specification, the special edition 500 BlackJack features an individual matt black paint finish with metallic effect on the mouldings, door handles, mirrors and plate holder.
"The paint finish is the most striking feature of this new limited edition," says Elena Bernardelli, marketing director, Fiat Group Automobiles UK and Ireland. "It has previously been a characteristic of new supercars, and gives the Fiat 500 a stunning new image.
It isn’t just a new paint job; the wheels have been dressed up in 16" matt black alloy wheels and models with the 1.4-litre engine gain red brake callipers to contrast the black exterior.
Fiat has even included special 500 BlackJack carpet mats inside, and all models are fitted with fuel saving Start&Stop for traffic jams and city driving.
The Fiat 500 BlackJack will go on sale next week and, according to Fiat, will be followed by more Fiat 500 limited editions throughout the year.
