Citroen van sales boost

The French marque is delivering 850 Berlingo and Dispatch vans to PH Jones, a property maintenance and utility metering company.

The vans were chosen after an ‘exhaustive’ vehicle review, which covered life costs, environmental impact, crew comfort and safety.

After choosing Citroen, PH Jones praised the satellite navigation technology and the fuel efficient HDi diesel engines in the vans.

A spokesperson for PH Jones said: "Three-seat capability and high levels of safety, comfort and convenience equipment, met all of PH Jones’ financial, operational and environmental requirements."

The company will lease 350 Dispatch L2H1 2.0HDi 120hp and 500 Berlingo LX 850 1.6HDi 90hp vans. Both the Dispatch and the Berlingo vans are being fitted with internal racking and other equipment before being put into service.

The Dispatch has recently been short-listed for the Motor Transport Fleet Van of the Year Award 2010 and the Berlingo has won numerous awards since its release.

As of April, Citroen was the fifth best-selling van manufacturer in the UK, but was only 14 units behind fourth place Peugeot and less than 1,500 behind third placed Volkswagen. However, Citroen sales increased more than any other manufacturer in the top five in April.

Ford remains the best-selling van manufacturer in the UK with 18,098 sold in the first four months of 2010.
